Multi axis computerized machining systems with integrated robotic manipulation of cutting tools and workpieces form the basis of modern machining technologies. The desired structural rigidity of machining systems depends solely on the load resulting from the machining and the desired accuracy of processed products. In cases where the mechanical stresses generated during machining operations are moderate, and also the permissible dimensional tolerances of machined products are increased, as is the case of boats production, structural elements of wood, prefabricated panel and skeletal construction elements, the wind turbine blades, the structural rigidity requirements for machining systems are completely different. In such cases, the complex machining system can be fully implemented by suitably designed and equipped robot. Such performance is highly superior, affordable, since it can significantly reduce system cost, which is particularly pronounced in cases where one of the controlled axis lengths is superior. The primary purpose of the project associated with flexible automation of technological processes in the production of light elements prefabricated panels and skeletal structures is to determine to what extent it is possible to use already available robot-assisted handling and machining technology. Given the current state of technology of manufacture of prefabricated structural elements can be concluded that it would be necessary to examine the possibilities of applications of robotic technology in both the manipulation and assembly, as well as in manufacturing systems. The primary objective is then able to make such a determination of technological boundary conditions for the design and introduction of integrated robotic machining centre with integrated manipulation and assembly capabilities. Particularly challenging area is the area of specialized robotic tools, which in most cases need to be adjusted or even fully developed.
