Strenght grading of structural timber

The aim of the project Strength grading of structural timber were: firstly, practical implementation of European standards dealing with the strength grading and determination of machine settings according to these standards; and secondly, to investigate the correlations between visual grading, the MOEdyn determined by the dynamic method (transversal damped vibration of simply supported edgewise oriented boards), MOEstat based on the classical 4-point banding test and the modulus of rupture MOR for spruce. Workshops concerning the relevant topics of structural timber grading, such as introduction of EN 14081-1 into sawmills, visual and machine grading, factory production control, certification principles, etc., were also performed.
